Here we hope to demystify all of your cake concerns.
We’ve put together a short list of the things that are just as important as how your cake will taste. All the technical info we think you need, as well as the most commonly asked questions to ensure your process is as smooth as possible.
All Mrs Brown cakes are made to order. Feel free to browse the gallery for inspiration, all designs can be tailored to fit your specific style and theme. During your consultation we will discuss the specific details of your cake design that will help to make your celebrations special and unique.
If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please get in touch to discuss the options. Most of our cakes can be produced gluten free, we are also able to provide vegan, egg and dairy free options with some flavours to suit your needs. All of our cakes are nut free except where specified, however cakes are not made in a nut free environment.
When booking your cake, sooner is always better than later. Celebration cakes generally require a minimum of three weeks advance notice, where as 3D and wedding cakes should be booked 3-9 months before the event. We require a 50% non-refundable deposit to confirm your order and secure your date in our diary. The final balance is due 4 weeks before the collection or delivery date (two weeks for celebration cakes). Orders placed within 4 weeks of the event will require full payment on confirmation, this payment is non refundable.
Any cake stands that you may wish to hire will require a £100 refundable deposit, which will be returned upon safe receipt of the stand. All stands are to be returned within 7 days.
We will do our very best to accommodate any design alterations you may have. We ask that any changes be made no less than 4 weeks before completion, and before the final payment has been made. Please bear in mind, any changes made must be in writing and may incur additional costs that will be added the final balance.
We are able to deliver and set up your cake, or if preferred you can collect from our base in South London. Delivery costs depend on venue location but as a guide, locations within the M25 will cost between £40 and £100. Please ask when booking for a more accurate quote.
Please note that for all cakes collected, full responsibility will remain with the client once the cake has left our care. Mrs. Brown will not be held responsible for any damage caused to cakes after collection. We will provide you with a care/set-up document to help aid safe transportation.
You may require fresh flowers as part of your design, in this instance they should be provided by your florist to ensure an exact match to any other flowers you are using ie. bouquet, venue decor etc. We will liaise with your florist to discuss any floral requirements. If you are choosing to have your cake delivered, we will decorate your cake with the flowers on site. Please check with your florist as to the types of flowers suitable for cake decoration.
If you need to cancel your order, please be aware that your deposit is non-refundable. For orders cancelled up to 28 days prior to your event date, any additional monies paid will be refunded. For cancelations within 28 days of your event, you will receive 30% refund of the total costs. Any orders cancelled within 14 days of the event will not receive any refunds.
If you need to change the date of your event for any reason, we will do our very best to accommodate you, however this will depend on the availability in the diary. You are permitted to transfer your deposit to a date that is within six months of the original date.
